Muutoksen tuulia - Changes ahead

Moikka!Tässä istun jälleen. Viimeinkin sain kuulla, että eräs paketti löysi kotiin. Eilen sain tiedon. Helpotus oli suuri. Ja tänään iskä kertoi, että minä saan kuulemma langattoman modeemin. Jaa'a, mahtaakohan tuo toimia? Minä vähän epäilen. Mutta sen näkee sitten. Ai niin, ja minä saan nyt sitten sen uuden navigaattorin. Kirjoitellaan!

Hi!Here I am again. Yesterday I FINALLY heard the news I have been waiting for two months. A package I sent before Christmas has finally found its way to its destination! Phew! A bit lift away from my shoulders, I say! Dad told me, that I'll get a wireless modem too. He wants to get rid of the wire jungle. Oh Dad...it may not be easy! I'm going to keep my older modem near if needed. I mean if the wireless one gets broken, I still have a chance to get online. I admit, I doubt the whole project, but the time will tell, how it goes. Yes, and Dad told me I'll get a new GPS - thing too. It is a must in my car. I just need to learn to use it. And that in turn needs motivation. But I think I have the motivation. I'll write again soon.

Nettihuolet jatkuvat - Net worries keep going

Luulen, että modeemini on rikki. Tietokoneessani on kyllä muutakin vikaa. En jaksaisi alkaa pakata tietokonettani juuri nyt, ja lähteä liikkeeseen testaamaan sitä. En todella jaksaisi enää tänään.
Myöhemmin selvisi, ettei modeemi olekaan rikki, ja netissä roikkuminen jatkuu.
I think the modem of my computer is broken. I don’t have much time left. Norton should be updated. I need my modem for that, so I think I have to go and buy a new one. The modem I use is external. It is easy to use and easy to see, if it is okay or not. Last night it was okay, and now it seems to be broken. It may be, that the very important 4th light is just broken…but because the connection won’t be there, no matter how long I wait, it probably is the fact that my modem is broken. I have no energy to go anywhere today. I think I need some rest. Maybe I go and buy a new modem after that.
After waiting some time I noticed the modem was fine after all, so I am not going to buy a new modem.

Näyttää siltä, että netti on ja pysyy poikki. No, minkäs teet. Modeemi irti vaan, ja odotellaan, josko netti ennen iltaa tulisi takaisin. Vaikka kuka sen tietää vaikka tässä olisi puolen vuoden nettilakko edessä.

It seems that my net connection is broken. Well, there is nothing I can do about it. I can only unplug the modem and wait, if the connection comes back before midnight. But it probably won’t come back. It may last as long as 6 months.

Edit later during the same day: WOOHOOOO! IT IS BACK!

Hyvä ettei se ollutkaan niin kamalaa - I am glad it was nothing serious

Huh heijaa! Olipa helpotus huomata, ettei se toissapäiväinen ollutkaan mitään muuta kuin sitä samaa vanhaa, mihin sain tottua jo edellisessä asunnossani. Siellä se tosin tuntui pahenevan joka kerralla. Toivotaan, ettei nyt ole niin.
Whew! What a relief! I am glad I am back. Actually I returned yesterday after I realized my computer was not to blame, but the telephone lines. There was some glitch in them. Some...overloading, or something. The only cure for that is time, so I waited until yesterday morning, checked in my Dad's place that my laptop's net was okay, and returned back home. Here I re-connected the net, and voilá! It worked again. Woohooo! I am so glad!

Menneisyyttä ja nykyisyyttä - The past and the present

Netti meni rikki eilen. Tuli sellainen sähkökatko, mutta kone ei mennyt kiinni, ennen kuin itse ajoin sen alas ja katkaisin virran. Irrotin myös modeemista sen yhden mustan kaapelin, josta katkeaa koko modeemin toiminta, kun se irrotetaan. Tänään yritin laittaa yhteyksiä taas. Ei pelaa. Eilen illalla kaikki oli vielä kunnossa. Voi olla, että vika on linjoissa, mutta minä en pääse sitä testaamaan, koska tuo yksi piuha on niin tiukassa, että en saa sitä irti. Joten nyt voin vain odottaa ja katsoa.

My internet has been broken. That is why you have not seen me lately. I don’t know why. It may be the line. The same thing happened in my previous apartment. After I moved this is the first time the net is broken. I can’t take my computer with me anymore. One certain line is too tightly attached. I can’t pull it off. In the past taking the computer and modem with me was easy. Not anymore. Why would I do that? I’d run some tests to find out where the broken part is. It may be too big for me. Or then it is something I have power over. But right now I can do nothing.

Minä heräsin tänään vähän turhankin aikaisin. Mutta minkäs teet. Piti saada tietää totuus nettiyhteydestä. Pakkasin tietokoneeni modeemeineen eilen, ja panin sen autooni. Tänään ajoin entiseen kouluuni katsomaan, pääsisinkö siellä testaamaan yhteyden toimivuutta. En päässyt. Ensin en saanut jäädä kahvioon. Sitten, löydettyäni luokan, jossa on nettimahdollisuus, huomasin, ettei minulla ole tarpeeksi pistorasioita kaikille niille piuhoille, joita tarvitaan nettiyhteyden ottoon. Niinpä kävin asunnollani hakemassa jatkojohdon, ja pakkasin sen kassiini, jonka jälkeen ajoin tänne entiseen kotiini katsomaan, pääseekö täällä nettiin. Uskoin näet, että jos pääsen nettiin täällä, vika ei ole koneessani, vaan jossain muualla. Teoriani osoittautui oikeaksi. Nyt aion palata asunnolleni, ja katsoa, josko netti olisi palannut sinnekin.


I woke up a bit too early today. I couldn’t help it, though. I wanted to find out, if my computer was to blame for the net’s not connecting. Well, I packed all the wires I needed. I packed my computer and my modem too. I tried to get online in my previous school. It did not succeed. At first a woman denied me staying in the coffee house. I chose a classroom, and went in. I checked if there was a possibility to use the internet. There was a possibility, but I realized something. I needed more wire! So I went back to my apartment, and took a long wire with me. I packed it, and came to my father’s house to test, if my computer is to blame or not. It seems to be that my computer is not to blame. That means I’ll return to my apartment, and check if the net works there.
